Ivan Shmilo was born in 1981, in Chernivtsi, Bukovina UKR. He graduated from the Novoyavoriv School of Arts in the bandura class. Drohobych Music College named after  Vasyl Barvinskyi and Drogobych Pedagogical University named after  Ivan Franko.  He got master's degree "Musical Art" Participated in many festivals and competitions.  Grand Prix of the "Kobzar art" competition, 2010, Odesa.  also the Grand Prix of the "Golden Strings" competition in Kyiv 2011. Participant of the annual World Lemki Vatra from 2005-2015, Zhdynia.  Poland. Concert activity in Germany, Belarus, Italy, Spain, Poland, Austria, Sweden, USA. Participant of the series of concerts "Migrant Stories 2021" organized by the Chicago Jazz Philharmonic under the direction of Orbert Davis. The head of the school of bandurists "Kobzaryk" in Chicago. Participant of the Bandurist Chapel named after T. Shevchenko of North America.
