Samuel Jewell is a drummer, composer, educator and bandleader born and raised on the south side of Chicago. Samuel picked up his first pair of drumsticks at the age of five and has since been on a quest to perfect his craft. Since the age of 15, Samuel’s hard work, gift and dedication has granted him the ability to perform at the biggest festivals in the world including the Elkhart Jazz Fest, Chicago Jazz Fest, Hyde Park Jazz Fest, and The T all City Blues Fest, just to name a few. Moreover, Samuel has traveled nationally and internationally and performed with artists such as, pianist and composer, Cyrus Chestnut, Guy King, Willie Pickens, Chantay Savage, Lionel Hampton Big Band, Jason Marsalis and soul-singer, pianist and producer, Frank McComb. As a band leader, Samuel and his band Itz Us , has performed at major clubs in Chicago and the midwest and he has released a record in 2017 entitled The Journey of Process. Samuel currently remains an active drummer, percussionist and educator in the chicago area
