Born on June 19, 1981, in Słupsk, Łukasz Jankowski’s musical journey began at the Comprehensive Music School in Gdańsk, where he graduated in 1999. He honed his craft at the Gdańsk Academy of Music, earning his degree in piano in 2005 under the guidance of Prof. Bogdan Kułakowski, and furthered his studies with postgraduate work under Prof. Bogdan Czapiewski in 2007. His education was enriched by master classes with luminaries such as Viera Nossina, Dina Yoffe, Bogdan Czapiewski, and Andrzej Jasiński.
A highlight of his early career was being named a laureate of the Young Performers’ Stage at the 42nd Polish Piano Festival in Słupsk in 2008, followed by a guest performance at the same festival in 2016. Jankowski has graced numerous prestigious stages across Poland and Europe, including Gdańsk, Słupsk, Warsaw, Pułtusk, and Geneva. In 2010, he marked the Chopin Year celebrations with a recital at Polish Radio Koszalin.
Since 2015, Jankowski has been a pivotal figure in the opera ensemble “Les Femmes,” performing in venues such as Polkowice, the Science Center in Gdynia, the Baltic Opera in Gdańsk, and the Opera Nova in Bydgoszcz.
His extensive career as an accompanist includes collaborations with the Polish Baltic Opera in Gdańsk on productions like Mozart’s “The Magic Flute,” Strauss’s “Ariadne auf Naxos,” and “Salome.” He has also worked with the Warmińsko-Mazurskie Philharmonic in Olsztyn, performing at the Arena Film and Music Festival with music by Hans Zimmer and John Williams.
Beyond his piano performances, Jankowski is active in various musical domains. Since 2006, he has been a member of the early music ensemble “Les Amis” from Gdańsk, performing in cities such as Elbląg, Świeradów-Zdrój, and Gorzów Wielkopolski.
In 2015, he completed a Bachelor’s degree in Jazz Arrangement and Composition at the Music Academy in Gdańsk in Leszek Kułakowskis class, and he continues to develop his artistic pursuits in this field. His band, “Art Fusion Ensemble,” performed with Grażyna Auguścik in 2015 at the Entrepreneurship Incubator stage in Słupsk.
Since 2013, Jankowski has been a dedicated lecturer at the Institute of Music, now the Department of Music Art at the Pomeranian University in Słupsk. He actively contributes to the artistic life and concerts of the institution, writing arrangements and performing in numerous events, including the musical “NiePoważna Muza” and the “Swego nie znacie” Festival. He also played a key role in the recording of the album “Felix Cassubia” in collaboration with Radio Koszalin.
In November 2017, Jankowski participated in an exchange with Ji Yu Gakuen College in Tokyo, performing the concert “Viva Polonia” and delivering a lecture on Polish composers. His international engagements continued with performances at the Polish Arts Festival in Limerick, Ireland, in September 2019, and at the Koszalin Philharmonic in October 2019. On December 31, 2019, he performed at the city New Year’s Eve event organized by the City of Słupsk.
On May 28, 2021, Jankowski performed as a soloist with the “Simfonia Baltica” Philharmonic Orchestra named after W. Kilar in Słupsk, presenting Liszt’s “Totentanz” at a concert celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Department of Music Art in Słupsk.
As a lecturer at Pomerania University he started cooperation with a Katarzyna Wyporska-Wawrzczak witch resulted in organisation of „All that Jazz” workshops and concerts witch hosted such great artists as Krystyna Stańko and Grażyna Auguścik or „ Music, Rythm and Dance” workshops with special guests such as Michael Snack.
