Antony Simonoff is a classically trained pianist who has
performed in numerous venues both nationally and abroad. He began
studying music at age four, and from his very first lessons exhibited
a keen interest in practicing and perfecting his craft.
Antony currently studies under the renowned Steinway Artist Dr.
Pawel Checinski. Antony has also studied under Dr. Theodore Edel,
an associate professor at the University of Illinois in Chicago, and
participated in a master class under the tutelage of Yana Reznik last
year.
In June 2017, Antony competed and won the opportunity to
play with Fox River Orchestra Rachmaninoff concerto #2. Also, later
that year he became the Grand Prix winner of the Carmel Clavier
International Piano Competition among the seniors.
Antony received his first competition victory when he was six
years old at the Granquist Music Competition in Geneva, Illinois.
When he was eight, he received gold medals for both piano solo and
concerto from the National Federation of Music Clubs. He seized first
place in the Chicago Area Music Teachers Association’s Roberta Savler
Competition, and has received numerous merit scholarships from the
Music Institute of Chicago. Antony was awarded first place at the
Illinois State Music Teachers Association in 2012 in the elementary
division and in November 2015 in the junior division. In 2015, he
also took first place at the Chopin Festival in Milwaukee, Wisconsin,
and second place at the Carmel Debut International Piano Competition
in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was also selected to perform at the
Chicago Symphony Orchestra as a one of the pianists in the program
"Keys to the City" together with Emanuel Ax, and performed at the
2016 Beethoven Birthday Bash in the Chicago Cultural Center. In 2016,
Antony received an honorable mention at the DuPage Symphony Orchestra
Piano Concerto Competition and second place at the Berkley-Pendel
Piano Competition.
Antony has performed multiple times at the Nichols Concert
Hall, Roosevelt University, and PianoForte in Chicago, Illinois, and
numerous private venues both at home and in Europe. Additionally,
Antony performed in the Young Steinway Concert Series in 2015.
Antony is a gold honor roll senior student at the Adlai E.
Stevenson High School. This fall Antony will start at the University
of Chicago. In his spare time, he enjoys studying Latin, reading
science fiction, and dabbling in robotics.
